Giulio Pippi was known as  Giulio Romano. He was an Italian Renaissance painter and architect and a pupil of Raphael. His stylistic deviations from High Renaissance classicism help define the sixteenth-century style known as Mannerism. Giulio’s drawings are  treasured by collectors, and contemporary prints of his work engraved by Marcantonio Raimondi were a significant contribution to the spread of sixteenth-century Italian style throughout Europe.
