Description

Clara Nelson (American 1890-1984) studied with Hans Hoffmann, and worked in Provincetown, MA. Graduated RISD, worked in Dusseldorf and Berkeley; taught at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred State University, 1931; Art Museum School Toledo, Ohio. She was an influential ceramics instructor, and created brilliant modernist, neo-cubist drawings and paintings throughout her long life.
