Daniella Midenge is a Swedish-born photographer and director currently working in a studio in the Hollywood Hills. She began her career as a painting conservator, as well as a hair and makeup artist in Stockholm. Her first book published recently, “Sex and Cigarettes,” is focused on original depictions of strong femininity communicating women’s innate vulnerability, sexuality, and versatility. Her brilliant photographs have appeared on the covers of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and L’Officiel, among others. In response to an interviewer’s question, “Your photos portray such strength, power, and striking vulnerability—is this intentional in defining your personal aesthetic?” Midenge replied, “I suppose I portray women in the way I want to be myself.” Recently she has begun a modeling career.
