Joyce Heimberger graduated from Otis College of Art & Design in 1956, and was active in Bay Area silkscreen workshops in the late 1950’s, a very active time for the rediscovery of the medium as a new “fine” art technology. Others who used the silkscreen to advantage in the same period were Dean Meeker, Ernest Freed, John von Wicht, Dorothy Bowman, Sylvia Wald, Charles Burchefield, and Sister Mary Corita (Kent).
