Description

Laurent Schkolnyk was born in Paris in 1953. He studied drawing and etching at the Beaux Art School in Nantes, France. Schkolnyk later studied with Guimezanes, who taught him the mezzotint technique. He is a recognized master of three-color mezzotint prints, a process wherein three separate mezzotint plates are made for the three primary colors. During printing the colors mix to create the full spectrum of color, from bright reds to rich blacks.

Schkolnyk has had solo exhibitions in Paris, Tokyo, San Francisco, and Seattle. His work was included in numerous group exhibitions in France, the United States, and Asia.  He currently lives and work in Nantes, France.
